About

Hi, my name is Kaelee and I am the creator behind Artful Equus. My artistic endeavors touch upon many realms, and I am always seeking the connections among it all. Here I celebrate life as art and focus on some of my most prominent muses; horses and nature.

Bio

Kaelee Thompson is a Montana based artist and equestrian. She grew up with horses and began drawing them as a young girl anytime she couldn’t actually be at the barn. This led her to realize her affinity for art, and she went on to get her BFA in illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design. After graduating in 2014, Kaelee worked in a variety of roles in the equine industry and across the country. While she had many wonderful experiences in these roles, she also noticed that much of the equine industry is designed around human wants rather than equine needs.

This inspired Kaelee to find a way to show up within the industry in way that served the horses first. In 2023 she began Artful Equus to focus on her art and message of equine welfare. In 2025 she became certified in equine massage therapy and continues her education in multiple bodywork modalities. Alongside her bodywork practice, she studies equine behavior and psychology to offer foundational relationship-based horsemanship coaching.

Along with creating art and offering equine bodywork, Kaelee loves to teach. She began teaching riding lessons in 2015 and continues to offer broader horsemanship focused education. She also teaches various art and drawing classes in Missoula, MT. Her teaching and coaching offerings incorporate mindfulness into each practice, whether that be horsemanship, art, or personal growth.
